There are many signs that can indicate that your commercial air conditioning system is in need of replacement. Here are some examples of these signs.

It has broken down multiple times during a recent bout of hot weather

It's quite common for older commercial air conditioning systems to break down occasionally. This doesn't necessarily mean that they have reached the end of their lifespan. However, if the air conditioner in your place of business broke down multiple times during a recent bout of hot weather, then it may be time to get an HVAC contractor to replace it.

There are two reasons for this. The first is that, if you want to maintain a reputation as a responsible business owner, you must ensure that the temperatures inside your commercial building are safe and appropriate for your employees to work in. If your air conditioning system repeatedly breaks down when it kept switched on during periods of warm weather, then your employees may have to endure several days of working in excessively hot conditions (as it may take a day or so for the HVAC contractor to fix the system each time it malfunctions). If the indoor temperature gets too high during these periods when the HVAC is not working, your employees may be at risk of heat exhaustion.

Secondly, the cost of having to repeatedly pay an HVAC contractor to fix your broken-down system will soon add up. As such, it is likely to be more economical to simply get rid of the current system and replace with a fully-functioning one which won't break down for many years to come.

It has not been effective at cooling the space since additional equipment was installed in the building

The equipment that is used on large commercial premises, such as manufacturing facilities, is very powerful and because of this, tends to generate a lot of heat whilst it is in use. If you have recently installed new equipment in your commercial space and you have noticed that the current air conditioning system doesn't seem to be keeping the premises as cool as it once did, then this might indicate that it is time to ask a commercial air conditioning contractor to install a better HVAC system. In this situation, it is possible that the existing system, whilst functional, simply isn't powerful enough to handle the amount of heat that is being produced by your newly-installed machinery.
